Old tutorial for Blender 2.49 [link] This is the new updated version of it for Blender 2.6.
FAQ I am using model X from a different game Y and I have a problem with ... ! This tutorial should work for most models, however, models exported from different games may be using different textures or something, that needs different settings than Lara's models. I'm sorry, but I can't help you with that.
Select the material, select the texture used has normal map. Go to the Image Sampling Panel and check the Normal Map checkbox. You need to do this for every normal map.
I made a new addon for Blender to import and export XPS/XNALara models. It imports the mesh, the armature and creates all the materials for you! And it works with .mesh and .mesh.ascii files!! No need port to OBJ. It work with blender 2.7 or greater
Almost Forgot the link, here it is. Hope you find it useful fav.me/d8b5s1j
Thanks for the tutorial, very nicely made n 'twas very helpful I used the tutorial with my Ayane model but I have a few problems like some of her skin being too rough (like old man skin) and her eyes not appearing in the render even after I found a second sorta white eyeball set around the actual eyes and made it transparent, I did wut I could, is this a problem with the textures or settings in the preceding procedures
Really stupid question, but how do you even open a model into Xnalara? I'm trying to get a Balthier model in Blender, but it is .ascii so I downloaded XNAlara so I could export it into a file type that worked. But now I don't even know how to load models into XNAlara because it doesn't have a button allowing me to browse my files.... I don't understand how this program works, I understand Blender.
Just put the folder of the model and its textures in the data folder in the XNALara_XPS directory, then it will appear in the 'add model' menu in the program. I frequently run into these lame problems with these programs, the solutions are usually straightforward (so much so that it's usually hard to find a written solution somewhere) but without them u can't take a single step :l Good luck.
I'm so angry i'd shoot myself. For one hour ive been trying to add a background picture in blender. i tried thousands and thousands of damn options and it still doesnt want to be in the final render picture. When im in the workspace it shows up really nice but when i try to render i have a god damn grey background. Can you please help? Im about to give up on this god damn software for being so annoying. Even xnalara has a proper background image feature, but no.. blender that has tons of updates can't even implement a feature right.
Hi, i followed this tutorial and it was really usefull, the problem i have is that the hair changes its original form and i dont know why, so i wanted to ask how to fix this, here is an image of my problem:
Love these tutorials, my only problem is I have never used any 3d program apart from xnalara (and even then I stumble in the dark .. lol) I have no idea whatso ever when it comes to programs like blender, I cant even change the camera angle/perspective or rotate the model.. I get frustrated so easily .. lol One day I hope to get better
When I'm renderin, there's no textur on the models. (If this is important, I'm using Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw, her Dad and Nick. Even when I'm trying to put on textur, there only appears everything in pink/purple) Now, is that, cause I'm doing something wrong, or are the models some kind of defect? I can follow every step, but in 3D Mode and Rendered pics are no kind of texture whatsoever...
hi im new here also i want to know some stuff about blender i have a problem in it i want to make clothes for the character and use it in xnalara i have blender but i dont fibd the mesh stuff so can any one tell me what is the solution for this problem
Never mind I found it, I apparently just was failing at google... XD But I was wondering if there was a way of combining models with different bones, or if there was a way to swap bones to make it easier. I will continue to look through tutorials XD
I tried doing this for a single model, in order to get the hang of it, but when I choose "export scene as obj", enter the copy of my models' data folder and click save, nothing happens for some reason.
